The Devil’s Share

The Devil’s Share was my first published comic book under my own banner, Whiskey Tango Comics. Illustrated by long-time collaborator and writing partner Justin Tuan Smith, this book marked the official beginning of my career as a writer. An Appalachian Gothic and set in the early 1900s, The Devil’s Share explored what would happen if the corn used to make moonshine was grown on the graves of murder victims, and then what it might look like if the murderer then unknowingly consumed that moonshine.  

Although The Devil’s Share is inarguably a bit amateurish in its execution, there are many aspects of it I feel have stood up well, especially Smith’s excellent character design and line work.
