COMIC BOOK
Andy Griffith Must Die

Oh boy… Andy Griffith Must Die. This is, without a doubt, the book that is still mentioned most when the topic of my early books comes up. The approach with AGMD was to envision what the whitewashed take on mid-century life in the Appalachian South, in the fictional town of Mayberry, might look like if it existed with all of the social issues of modern day. Written in a somewhat hard-boiled noir style and with an intentional, blocky, stark black-and-white art style by Henry Simon, this book, in my opinion, is a highly original piece of fictional revisioning, if anything.
Similar to Dog Days of Raleigh Bottom, this is also a story I’d like to revisit and create a proper long-form update for. I also feel pretty strongly it could make for one hell of a Tarantino-style short film if done right.
